Haas F1 boss
Guenther Steiner believes that tyres are having too much of a negative affect on
Formula 1.
In the opening four races of this 2019 F1 season; teams have struggled to judge the operating windows for its tyres. A lot of them are struggling to get enough heat into the rubber and it's having a negative impact on the car's potential. Haas being one of the teams.
The American outfit were very ambitious at the start of the season, and set its eyes on stealing
Renault's "best of the rest" status, with the French side recording fourth-place in the constructors' championship last season.
Steiner believes the problem doesn't solely rely on Pirelli, the official tyre manufacturer. However, he believes the point of discussion shouldn't be about tyres at this stage of the season.
"Everybody's got issues with the tyres," Steiner said to Autosport. "It's just who is (struggling) more or less. And we are more. And it's so disappointing because we've got a good car. We shouldn't be talking always about if the tyre works or not.
"It's interesting but, no, that's not Formula 1. 'Did you get the tyre to work? Yes - then I'm fast. Oh, my tyre didn't work, then I'm slow'. We spend millions and millions to develop these cars and then they are out of the (tyre) window and really cannot get going."
