Mercedes retains problems with the car despite a strong weekend in Canada. The situation worries former Formula 1 driver Christian Danner. Speaking to Sport & Talk on Servus TV, Danner points to Toto Wolff who is said to be responsible.
Whereas the German team has been fighting for the world title since 2014, this season has been different. At Barcelona and Montreal, among others, Mercedes showed it could compete with the top teams, but at other circuits the gap to Ferrari and Red Bull Racing widened considerably.
For the time being, Mercedes cannot count itself rich, as Danner also knows. "I really appreciate Toto. He has won enough titles in the last few years. But please, who set the car up like this? It's the team that does it," he notes.
Porpoising seems to be one of the main reasons that Mercedes is still not able to compete at the front. According to Danner, however, there is another issue of concern. "The car is just set up way too hard. That's the problem," says Danner, who believes that Wolff does deserve credit after all the world titles.
Someone who puts political manipulation above his drivers' safety, then acts like a champion for safety, and throws a tantrum when he's revealed as the hypocrite he really is.
I will not be surprised if Toto gets fired after his contract expires, along with Lewis. They are both starting to hurt the brand, which is bigger than anything! Mercedes will get rid of them soon, probably by the end of this year or maximum next year!
Unfortunately he owns 1/3 of the team. It's not that easy to get rid of a shareholder. Given also how he orchestrated the 1/3 shares sale to Ineos, it's up to him, and pretty much him alone to decide to go.
Well then the board and the 2/3 need to decide whats best for Mercedes. Winning with whatever means necessary is their motto though!
Toto is the first to appear with his wingman Lewis by his side after every success and both are first to direct the blame elsewhere for their failures. Blaming the car for the constant finishes behind George is unfair and poor sportsmanship towards the young Britt.
TOTO is rubbish. That kind of characters hurt F1, FIA and the competition.... And it discourages fans....
He is in trouble and is lashing out at everyone. He is not good for the team and for the sport. He is tarnishing the MB brand and MB and INEOS need to step in and intercede. This is not the way this sport should be run. Binotto and Horner are a good example of how a top team leader should behave and run an Organization. Otmar is probably the best example. He is the exact opposite of Toto.
He's not lashing out at everyone. He had had a heated argument with the vile Horner. Every team principal looks after their own team. Wolff is doing what a team principal should. What's best for his team. Binotto was crying about the delay in SC deployment after Canada because his team could have been affected the hadn't pitted Sainz. Red Bull whinge when things don't go their way too (usually in the direction of Mercedes). Horner is not a good example for a team leader. That's like saying Putin is a good example of a world leader. You make out like Toto is worst person on Earth when all this opinion stems from a biased point of view. You're certainly not taking after your name.
LOL! My bad Lewis, Saint Toto and you Sir Lewis are the finest examples of proper behavior. Your degrading of the team last year when your skill fell short of the mark were actually an inspiration for all of the team members. You and Toto are just keen, MB brand is thrilled with both of you. Thanks for sharing the light. I can see now!!!!
Was that response to me or to Mercedes? I feel Toto should answer this one but you might have to wait a while as I don't think he get's on here too often. What I can say was that Lewis' skill didn't fall short of any mark in 2021. He was level on points in Abu Dhabi and whipped Max's rear end in the final race where it matter most. Dominated him. And then... Red Bull got the FIA to turn it around so they could win. Cute.
LOL! He could have won in Baku and won the championship, He clearly choked. He could have lost in Brazil if he did not have the Spicy rear wing and an engine that could not have been legal at all. He has had help all of the way from the FIA so beating a dead horse in the ABU DABI race is done an over with.
In all honesty, Toto had first a heated argument with Binotto from Ferrari only later Horner joined.
"How is this personal?" I answered that in post you just replied to!
JEM +297022-06-2022 00:46 In all honesty, Toto had first a heated argument with Binotto from Ferrari only later Horner joined. How is this personal?
Who said a lot of text means you're smart? The content and quality of the post also counts. Lots of text usually means that the person has a lot to say or focuses on detail. Jem you're always personal. It doesn't have to be direct insults for it to be personal. You still attack my character at every opportunity. Your posts are more about me than anything to do with F1.
A lot of text doesn't mean you are smart. Smart people can say it with limited words. I never made it personal, that is you. I reply only on your posts. By the way, yes a lie. Binotto had the heated argument with Toto. Horner only sided with Binotto.
A lie? No... see you're getting a lie mixed up with a comment that you don't agree with. They're two separate things. And in any case how would a lie be a double standard? I think you're trying to sound smarter than you are and using phrases you see me and other use on here in your own posts. "Looking forward to the month that you will start posting value added contributions with the actual truth and not your opinion presented as the truth." JEM I could say the very same to you. I've not once seen you involved in a good debate other than to bring one down. I've seen no evidence thus far that you can hang with a conversation of valuable contributions. You ask someone of someone that you cannot deliver yourself. For you, a valuable contribution is ONLY when you agree with it. You simply cannot see a contructive point even if it's one you don't agree with or don't like to hear. If your posts to me are only going to be about character assassination instead of Formula 1 then you're making my point for me. You're more obsessed with bringing me down as a person than responding to the content of my comments.
So you say you care about the truth, but your first comment starts with a lie. Bit of a double standard. Looking forward to the month that you will start posting value added contributions with the actual truth and not your opinion presented as the truth.
I don't need to frame Horner. I couldn't think any less of him than I do now. We agree that the truth matters. Hopefully you will remember that more often and put the truth in front of your opinions or even in place of.
If you are framing Horner, yes it matters that the truth is also mentioned.
This is pure political, comparing war crimes with an F1 team leader. Disgusting!
I didn't compare war crimes. That's just you twisting things to gain points and then even forming an opinion of that which you have twisted out of context. My statement stands pre or post Ukraine. Putin wasn't a good world leader way before Ukraine. Ukraine has nothing to do with it. Way to miss the point ! But then, that was the idea wasn't it? :) Go read my reply to 'It's Me Again'. Another fool who blew things out of context because he knows no better. Perhaps the clouds will clear for you.
Lots of people here on this board know you will go to the deepest part of the gutter to stir the pot & try to bend facts with using discriminatory comments based on segregation & political slur. You should be banned from this board.
