Every week, former racing driver
Marc Surer takes stock. Which drivers drove strongly during the last Grand Prix and who were disappointed. According to Surer,
Max Verstappen belongs in the latter category.
The Grand Prix of Italy was a spectacle. Due to a mistake by Mercedes and
Lewis Hamilton at his pit stop and a dramatic start by
Valtteri Bottas, the chances for the other teams were completely open.
Pierre Gasly grabbed that opportunity with both hands, although it wasn't easy.
Verstappen disappoints
"Man, he's got nerves of steel. Under pressure he didn't make any mistakes,'' says Surer about Gasly's race. There was pressure from
Carlos Sainz, who also impressed Surer.
''I really enjoyed his will to win'', says the Swissman to
Formel1.de.
Max Verstappen quickly saw his chance of victory disappear and was completely out of the race when his bike broke down. According to Surer it wasn't in the bag for the Dutchman all weekend either.
''In practice and in the race I didn't see his good form again," concludes Surer.
