Despite Max Verstappen's victory, Red Bull Racing did not make a big gain on Ferrari. Sergio Perez finished in P8 and only took home four points. Perez finished last out of the top four teams, and that's something Red Bull cannot afford now that McLaren and Ferrari can battle for race wins.
McLaren didn't win and only had one driver on the podium, yet they scored more points than Red Bull in Imola. Max Verstappen almost maximised his points in Imola. George Russell took home the extra point for the fastest lap. Still, Red Bull scored only four more points than Ferrari.
McLaren is the winner in terms of points in Italy. Lando Norris finished second and Oscar Piastri was just short of the podium. The British racing team took 30 points this weekend, one more than Red Bull Racing. Fortunately for Perez, Red Bull already has a sizeable lead, but there are still 17 races remaining in 2024.
