The opening lap is perhaps the most crucial moment of a Grand Prix. Often this is the moment to make up for a bad qualifying and quickly climb a few places. Some drivers are better at this than others.
Formula 1 has posted an overview on its Twitter account with the six drivers who managed to climb the most places in their opening laps this season. Alfa Romeo driver
Antonio Giovinazzi, who already managed to make up 45 places in his first laps this season, is well ahead of his rivals. That's almost twice as many as
Kevin Magnussen who is second in this list.
Other drivers who manage to get through their opening laps well are
Nicholas Latifi,
Kimi Raikkonen,
Charles Leclerc and
Daniel Ricciardo. Check out the tweet below with the number of positions won.
