FIA president Jean Todt has said that Formula One won't be switching to electric power in the future, adding the idea was "nonsense". Formula One will not be going down the all-electric formula route like Formula E has done.
Previously, Ross Brawn had claimed that there was nothing stopping F1 from going all-electric in the future but recently Todt dismissed that notion, reasserting that F1 and Formula E will remain seperate in design.
"That will not happen," he said.
"We're talking about two completely different racing series. Formula E cars cannot develop the same speed as in Formula 1. It's one of the reasons the races are in the cities - it would not be interesting to see them at Monza for example.
"However, Formula E is developing well. The race distance can now be covered by one car. This shows that motor racing can not only be a show, but also a laboratory.
"But spending time comparing Formula E and formula one is just boring."
