Ferrari fairly disappointed in the first two free practice sessions at Zandvoort. During qualifying, Q2 did not go smoothly for Charles Leclerc either, but in the end, Ferrari still had two men in the top ten. Leclerc will start Sunday from ninth place, and Carlos Sainz from sixth. The latter is hugely satisfied with this result.
"I think you would have asked me before quali, P6, I would have signed the paper," Sainz told GPblog and others. "It's been a tough weekend as you guys have seen from the outside. Also, I missed FP1, FP3 was wet, so my only dry laps really were in FP2," the Spaniard continued.
Leclerc parked the SF-23 in the wall four minutes before the end of Q3, ensuring that the Monegasque will have to start Sunday from ninth place. Not tenth, as earlier in Q3 Williams driver Logan Sargeant also slid off the track.
"I think I need to be happy. We had a really good execution in quali. We nailed everything and these mistakes and we did some good laps, so, top six in the end," Sainz said.
