Sergio Perez has made his first metres for
Red Bull Racing. On Tuesday he sat in the RB15, but on Wednesday he also drove a few laps in the RB16B. The Mexican can't wait for the season to start.
Perez's chance
For Perez, his chance at
Red Bull Racing is a dream come true. After a disappointing 2013 season at
McLaren, he seemed to have lost his chance of ever racing for a top team, but when Racing Point sidelined him and
Alexander Albon failed to perform alongside
Max Verstappen, Perez was given the chance at Red Bull.
''There is so much to learn and so much to experience. I feel the step forward of this car at all speeds. I could feel that just now. For the rest it is now mainly about being comfortable with the car and I have already achieved that with some adjustments to the seat. When we go to Bahrain I'll be ready to kick some ass,'' the Red Bull driver said in
a video by Peter Windsor.
Verstappen an enormous talent
With
Max Verstappen as a teammate, however, Perez will not have it easy in 2021. The Dutchman has beaten his last two team-mates (Alexander Albon and
Pierre Gasly) with ease and
Daniel Ricciardo in his final season. Perez saw immediately in the first days what makes Verstappen so good.
''Max is a great talent and I can't wait to work with him. He is really a natural talent and technically very strong as well. I can't wait to fight together to collect as many points as possible for the team. The goal is of course to win, but that will be a process. Mercedes has an advantage, but hopefully this car will be good enough to close that gap,'' concludes the Mexican.
