Max Verstappen enters the new season with a fresh sense of optimism, a new teammate in Pierre Gasly and now the Dutchman believes the new car is feeling good, albeit only in simulations.

Verstappen will be Red Bull’s number one driver following the departure of Daniel Ricciardo to Renault, and he’ll be looking to build on his impressive end of season form which saw him win in Mexico and come so close in Brazil.

The RB15 is set to be unveiled on February 13 and Verstappen is confident about the new car.

"I've only driven the new car in the simulator so far, but it feels positive," Verstappen told Formule 1.

"But you obviously don't know what the other teams are doing.

“It's also about waiting, It's exciting although the real excitement will come when I'll be in the car.”

Another big change at Red Bull in 2019 is the switch from Renault to Honda as their engine supplier.

Verstappen spoke about the air of optimism surrounding the change saying: “I notice that there is a lot of positive energy.

“I think it's coming from both sides, from the team and from the engine supplier.”
