For years
Max Verstappen had to stand in the shadow of
Lewis Hamilton. The Brit dominated
Formula 1 in recent years, but in 2021 he got beaten by the Red Bull driver. According to
Mark Webber the Dutchman was already coveting this for a while.
Hamilton was the king of F1 until 2021. With six titles in the last seven seasons, there seemed to be no one to match him. Of course, that was because of Mercedes' dominant car, but the Briton didn't let go of the reins himself either. Verstappen and
Red Bull Racing would have to do everything in their power to close that gap.
Pressure on Verstappen
Webber speaks at
Speedweek.com Webber praised the Dutchman. According to the former
Formula 1 driver, Verstappen hardly showed any signs of fatigue and he didn't let setbacks in Baku and Silverstone fool him. The only time he did see him get a knock was in Saudi Arabia.
Both drivers had their problems though, but Webber also sees that Verstappen can be very proud of this title. ''Max knows he has beaten a hungry Hamilton in mental and psychological top form'', concludes the eight-time race winner.
