Following a mixed start to the new F1 season many have questioned
Max Verstappen’s decision to stick at
Red Bull but
Jacques Villeneuve believes he has made the right decision and can now push for a world title.
The Dutchman is now the main driver at Red Bull following the departure of
Daniel Ricciardo and has outperformed his new teammate
Pierre Gasly at both races so far. However, after a promising start in
Melbourne, the Red Bull seemed considerably slower than the
Mercedes and
Ferrari vehicles in
Bahrain leading many to question Verstappen’s decision to sign a new deal.
Having previously been a critic of the 21-year-old Villeneuve believes he is ready to make a title push.
"It may be clear that if you are offered the opportunity to race in Formula 1, you take it with both hands," said Villeneuve told RacingNews365.
“As a young driver, you never know what a season in Formula 2 class will bring you, so you have to choose Formula 1 when you have the option.
“Max made the right choice by opting for Red Bull.
“That team fits him very well because they build the team around one driver,” added the Canadian.
