After
Carlos Sainz made a mistake and ended up next to the track, the same thing happened to
Max Verstappen. The Dutchman made a mistake and ended up in the gravel trap, losing two places.
Verstappen in the gravel after mistake
The action cost Verstappen eight seconds on leader
Charles Leclerc and he found himself behind
Sergio Perez and
George Russell. He has since passed his teammate but will have to deal with Russell before he can make up the necessary time on Leclerc.
DRS issues for Verstappen again
Verstappen struggled with DRS issues in qualifying, after which
Red Bull Racing replaced the necessary parts of his rear wing. On Sunday the problems were not over yet, as the rear wing was once again being tinkered with.
Christian Horner, however, insisted that the problem had been solved.
During the race, this proved not to be entirely the case. Not long after he went off track the driver was told that his DRS had not opened where it should have. Meanwhile, Verstappen made his first pit stop, after which he was told that his DRS had worked again on the last lap. However, during an overtaking attempt on George Russell, the system is seen not to open again.
