Max Verstappen already did it once at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix: combining a Formula 1 weekend with sim racing. The reigning world champion may opt for a similar programme this weekend in Hungary.
Indeed, next Saturday the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps is on the programme. Team Redline will of course be at the start again, so Max Verstappen will also have the opportunity to take part. The Red Bull Racing driver has not yet decided whether he will actually put in the hours in the simulator.
His simulator is present in Budapest, but the course of Friday (and Saturday) will depend on whether Verstappen will be in action. Red Bull has top priority and if things do not go as planned, all of Verstappen's hours will go into that.
"I have been driving [in the sim on the Spa circuit], but I haven't decided whether I will drive or not. It depends on how much time I have. It's just busy this weekend," Verstappen told GPblog and others.
For instance, the Dutchman - like teammate Sergio Perez - is driving with quite a few new updates this weekend, which brings a lot of new data. Analysis and fine-tuning will also take time.
If at all possible, the World Cup leader will participate. Not least because he greatly enjoys (virtually) driving on the Belgian circuit in the Ardennes. So a decision will follow later.
