Sebastian Vettel had a disastrous start of his time at
Aston Martin. The German didn't make it out of Q3 and rammed into
Esteban Ocon in the race. The four-time world champion has said he regrets the bad weekend.
From bad to worse for Vettel
Vettel could not get any further than fifteenth place in the
Bahrain Grand Prix. He started the race from last place with three penalty points in his pocket after ignoring yellow flags in qualifying. He didn't fare much better in the race, hitting the back of
Esteban Ocon as the two battled it out.
Vettel was immediately on the board radio and was not happy with Ocon's action, but he is coming back to that.
"I thought he was going to stay on the right. However, when he went left, he was right in front of me and I blocked, so it probably was my fault", the former
Ferrari driver is quoted by
Motorsport.com.
Five penalty points taken home
"Obviously I regret such a bad weekend", Vettel continued. He says he knows how much preparation goes into the start of the season and into the race, but tries to look at it from the positive side: "From here it can only get better." The German leaves Bahrain with five penalty points gained.
