Aston Martin has reacted to the news that the
FIA will not look again at the disqualification of
Sebastian Vettel. The Silverstone-based team has decided to withdraw its appeal against the disqualification. This means that the disqualification of Vettel is fixed.
"Having considered our position and noted the FIA stewards' assessment that there was no clear new evidence of a fuel system failure, we have decided to withdraw our appeal," reads the F1 team's statement. The evidence was marked as new, but not as a reason to look again at the penalty.
"
We believe that this decision is the best one. This outweighs the benefits of a further hearing," the statement concludes. This also gives
Lewis Hamilton a definitive second place and gives
Carlos Sainz his second podium of this season.
