Sebastian Vettel only finished fourth during the Italian Grand Prix after spinning out in the first lap, with him colliding with Lewis Hamilton at the second chicane, and the German is not happy with how it went down.
During the collision, Vettel lost a bargeboard and broke his front wing, meaning he had to make a pitstop in the first lap. It was an uphill battle from there, and the German managed to climb fifteen spots to end up fourth, right outside of the podium places. Looking back on the first lap-incident, Vettel wasn't happy with the amount of space Hamilton left him to operate in.
"Lewis obviously saw a little gap around the outside," Vettel told Sky Sports F1.
"But then he didn't leave me any space and I had no other choice than to run into him and make contact.
"I tried to obviously get out of there but I couldn't.
"Unfortunately I was the one that spun around, which was a bit ironic - but it was that way."
Vettel felt bad for the Italian fans more than anything, and he knows the team let them down at Monza, where they haven't won since Alonso in 2010.
"For sure I'm down at the moment but mostly for the people [here].
"Their support has been incredible - unfortunately, we didn't deliver.
"But then what can you do when you get spun around?"
