Sebastian Vettel has ruled out retiring anytime soon insisting age is just a number as it approaches six years since his last Formula 1 World Championship.

Vettel is a four-time World Champion, winning four successive titles between 2010 and 2013. However, since then he has failed to match Mercedes with his move to Ferrari failing to provide a fifth World Championship.

Along with the emergence of Charles Leclerc, many have contemplated the idea that Vettel is entering his final few seasons in Formula 1. However, the man himself has ruled out retirement but admits when he quits that will be it.

“No, certainly not. I think age is not as crucial to us as it is in some other sport," Vettel told DPD.

"But in the end, it’s the same with every sport – if you’re good enough, you’re still young enough.

“I have been in Formula 1 for twelve years now and therefore I have a very different perspective than before. I judge things with a little more distance and not so quickly. It’s the luxury of having a few years on the clock.

“I do not intend to retire in the foreseeable future. I enjoy racing a lot."
