The Formula 1 season continues with the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. This race weekend will give Red Bull’s RB20 its first test with the cooling system. The Red Bull car has innovative cooling methods, and those will be more important than in Bahrain due to the higher temperatures. The RB20 performed well on the first day in Saudi Arabia, and Verstappen had strong pace in the race simulation.
Weather.com reports that the remaining two days of F1 action will be dry. There is a 0% chance of rain for the remaining sessions in Jeddah this weekend.
But things get interesting when looking at the temperatures. During the day, the temperature is set to reach 30c, around 10 degrees higher than what F1 experienced in Bahrain, where Mercedes had cooling issues due to an aggressive approach in set-up. Luckily for the F1 teams, the race in Jeddah takes place at night when it is cooler.
The temperature is expected to dip to 25c on Friday and 26c on Saturday for qualifying and the race. FP3 will be completed earlier in the day, so Red Bull will be able to test their cooling with the air temperature touching 30c.
