Twice in Bahrain Ferrari had pit stop issues, one would lead to the serious injury of a mechanic and retirement of a car.
FIA race director Charlie Whiting is "perplexed" by the pit stop issues Ferrari had during the race weekend in Bahrain.
Twice during the Bahrain event did Ferrari make an error during a pitstop and would lead to the retirement of Kimi Raikkonen from the race having been comfortably in third position at the time.
"The two instances in Melbourne were quite clearly wheel gun operator error," he explained to the Express.
"They cross-threaded the nuts, thought it was tight, came off, then realised a little bit too late that it wasn't.
"The guy hadn't even taken the wheel off (before the car was released) which is slightly perplexing."
The second incident that caused Raikkonen's retirement also led to race mechanic Francesco Cigarini sustaining a fractured fibula and shinbone after Raikkonen caught the mechanic as he left his pit box.
There have been a few pit stop incidents already this season, with both Haas cars retiring in Melbourne due to an issue and during winter testing, Fernando Alonso spun into the gravel after a wheel nut failure.
Whiting said that they are working with the teams to try and understand the issues that occurred and to eliminate any future errors
"Alonso lost a wheel in testing and we went through it all with McLaren.
"They gave us a report, we discussed it with the Technical Working Group to understand, make sure everyone else realises these things can happen (and) everyone tries to learn from it.”
