The Italian Grand Prix featured a display of power from the reigning world champion in Formula 1: Max Verstappen. But was the Dutchman also the best driver on the grid, or was Sergio Perez perhaps better? Who do you think is the 'GPblog Driver of the Day'?
The 2023 edition of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza has proven to be Max Verstappen's day. The Dutchman managed to drive his RB19 to first place quite easily but had to deal with Carlos Sainz in the first laps of the race. The Spaniard himself finished third behind Sergio Perez.
Behind the Red Bulls of Verstappen and Perez, Sainz and Charles Leclerc finished in the SF-23. Behind these four names, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished fifth and sixth. Esteban Ocon and Yuki Tsunoda completed fewer laps than the rest because they dropped out early. Tsunoda didn't even make it to the start because he stood still during the formation lap.
