Carlos Sainz, along with Sergio Perez and Kevin Magnussen, was still "under investigation" after the race in Saudi Arabia for not slowing under the yellow flag. Eventually it was decided that the Spaniard could keep his podium spot, but not everyone agrees.

The three drivers all failed to follow the rules in the closing stages of the race. Under the waved double yellow flags, the drivers seemingly did not reduce speed enough. Perez and Sainz were fighting for a podium spot and wouldn't budge. In the end, all drivers were cleared of further penalties, but at Sky Sports they feel that Sainz was driving unsafely by not reducing speed enough.

Sainz didn't elevator enough under double yellow

Anthony Davidson spotted this.

According to the analyst, briefly releasing the gas pedal is not enough in an unsafe situation on the track and former F1 driver Paul di Resta agrees with him.

The Brit looks at the situation from the race director's point of view and states, "If you are a steward and you are watching to make sure everyone is following the rules that are there to make sure everyone is racing safely then a tenth is not good enough." Di Resta doesn't think Sainz should have gotten away with it. Still, the race stewards ruled that it was enough, so the Spaniard received no penalty and was allowed to keep his podium spot.
