Toto Wolff says his team need to "monitor"
Red Bull ahead of the 2019 season. He believes the Austrian outfit will be competitive under the
Honda engine. German media outlets are claiming the Japanese power unit is just 50bhp down on the
Mercedes version.
"The Honda engine looks very competitive, and there are real racers at Red Bull, so we will monitor them," Wolff told Grand Prix 247.
"It's great to see them [Honda] making real strides. We're very excited about the progress they're making and obviously hopeful as we head into 2019."
Earlier today, Helmut Marko confirmed they have another upgrade in the locker before the start of the season. At home last weekend, Honda didn't pick up the results they dreamed of, but their technical director explains how it will motivate the team further.
"The result was disappointing, given our excellent showing in qualifying. However, the frustration we all feel at the lack of points will turn into motivation as we carry on working through the final four races," said Toyoharu Tanabe.
