Helmut Marko suggests winning the title in 2019 can still happen for Red Bull. The team, alongside their big brothers, received a strong reception from the home Japanese fans. Marko goes on to explain how massive it will be when his team start winning under the Honda engine.
"We go so much welcome in Japan. Can you imagine if we start winning? Being a frontrunner, I think it will be massive," Marko said in an interview with Grand Prix 247.
The Austrian went on to confirm Honda still have another upgrade in the locker before the 2019 season kicks off. Usually, with Honda, they tend to roll the upgrades out early, assess the problems and change it before it works to its full potential. We'll see what happens this time but German outlets claim they are only 50bhp down on Mercedes.
“Before the start of the new season, there will be another big upgrade, which will allow us to fight for wins on some tracks. A small gap shouldn’t be the end of the world, we can compensate with our chassis," continued Marko.
“Our goal is to fight for the title next season, but realistically that will be tough. The new rules regarding the front wing play a part in that."
