Zak Brown fights back over James Key insisting McLaren have a contract

James Key is adamant McLaren had a contract nailed down to sign Toro Rosso's technical director James Key. Last week, McLaren announced the deal was done, but Helmut Marko claimed Key was under a long contract at Red Bull.

Marko told McLaren they have a "very very long wait" until they could have Key. But now Brown, McLaren CEO is certain Key will join.

"We have hired James Key, he will become our technical director...though we do not have a start date," Brown said in an interview on pitpass.

But after easing a little bit, Brown lashed back at Toro Rosso and Red Bull making the teams, perhaps a little jealous? Or making him sound bigger than them...take it how you like.

"I think Toro Rosso and Red Bull are understandably upset that they're losing a great talent. I think he's recognised as one of the best technical directors in the pitlane," Brown added.
