That’s inaccurate. If you switch F1TV to the “international” feed, you get Crofty and the full Sky commentating crew. Also, in countries like Canada and others without a dedicated broadcast team, the local rights holders simply retelecast the Sky feed. I do agree that F1TV at least try and be a bit more impartial, recognizing they are meant to actually be international. But Sky unfortunately cannot help but fanboy over every British driver.24-07-2024 13:39

Ah. You are right. I missed that at the time. That’s great to see and reaffirms my respect for Lando. I totally understand he was upset, but it seemed like he was directing that at Oscar, rather than the team or himself. Oscar did nothing wrong and if anything, having had the right to pit first by being the lead car, he let Lando take the undercut to protect against Lewis. Had Oscar not agreed to that team strategy (which he had no real choice to do so), Lando would likely not have been in the lead after the second round of stops. It will be interesting if Lando comes up short in the driver’s championship by only a handful of points. Points that the win today would have overcome. This is really down to McLaren and whether they are yet making the right strategy calls. I’m not so sure.21-07-2024 18:02

Lost a lot of respect for Lando today. Very childish behavior at the end of the race. Went out of his way to ignore Piastri and wouldn’t even offer a congratulations on Oscar’s first win while other drivers where doing so. Oscar had to make the overture to shake Lando’s hand before he even would look Oscar in the eyes.21-07-2024 17:22

Lando was too focused on trying to squeeze Max at the start. Had he conceded sooner and realized he needed to cover the outside he could have held George at bay at turn 1, settled into 2nd and likely come away with the win, given the pace of the McLaren. He’s no doubt quick, though it was a lack of experience starting from pole which was the differentiator today. Time and experience will change that. And hopefully give us fans more exciting racing!23-06-2024 18:18

Why would Max ever sign with Mercedes? His salary already is higher than Hamilton. But that’s not what motivates him. Winning does. The key to Mercedes 8 constructors championships was the engine. They had talented leaders, talented drivers, but never had the best car aerodynamically. They simply had an engine that could drive around all the car’s deficiencies on most tracks. That’s why we saw RB take a few wins off them each year on low power circuits like Monaco where the deficit of the Renault PU was negated. With the regulation change, Mercedes lost that advantage - and it’s possible they may never recover it. Toto only has experience winning from the front, so is in uncharted territory here and so far isn’t leading them in a direction that suggests an imminent return to winning championships. Past performance does not equate to future performance. Just look at Ferrari, Mclaren, or Williams for that matter. It’s great to see two of these championship dynasties back in contention, but it’s been a long road with still a lot more to travel. Max will stick with the winners until his 2028 contract runs out and then who knows what the landscape will look like. He could just retire like he’s said. But all this media drama suggesting a move to Mercedes before then is nonsense.12-04-2024 13:30

Two practice sessions on Friday. Race qualifying on Saturday, followed by a reverse-grid sprint based on Championship standings. Full race on Sunday. The question becomes how many points to award for the sprint finishing order as the reverse grid could otherwise overly benefit the midfield. Which perhaps isn’t a bad thing.14-11-2023 14:22

Funny how he never expressed these opinions during the era of Mercedes dominance. And I’m sure he wouldn’t be expressing them now had that continued, with him finally in the Mercedes car. I honestly used to enjoy hearing from George, as there's not doubt he's highly talented. But ever since he started drinking the Mercedes Kool-aid and tossing about accusations how other teams were circumventing the floor regulations, which the FIA's technical directive was absolutely going to resolve and bring Mercedes back into contention, I'd rather just tune him out. Unfortunately that's not easy when having to watch F1 on Sky. As other than Karun and Martin, who seem to be the only one two who can remain objective, the rest of them are constantly fawning all over George and treating his every word as gospel.05-05-2023 20:16

I'm generally not a fan of the sprint races as they are typically boring and seem to add little value. So actually prefer the traditional format of Friday practice, Saturday qualifying, and Sunday race. As it preserves the prestige of the actual race itself. But if Liberty really want to improve the spectacle, then scrap the sprint qualifying altogether and line them up for the sprint race in reverse championship order. The teams would never go for it, but it would actually be interesting and exciting to watch the faster cars make their way through the pack. They could even keep the points system, which would also add more variables to the championship.02-05-2023 18:29

My sense is the desire not to finish behind the safety car factored in to the decision to red flag with only a few laps to go. The rule should perhaps be amended for that situation, where after the track has been cleared, the safety car leads them around to a rolling start rather than a standing start. They only lose 1 lap behind the safety car and avoid the potential carnage from the standing start. Red flags are never ideal, as they negate any advantages from differing tire strategies. But at least it doesn’t turn the finishing order into a potential lottery.03-04-2023 14:19
