Ouch! Despite pole position, Bottas is embarrassed!
- GPblog.com
In qualifying for the GP Emilia Romagna it was Valtteri Bottas this time who has come out on top and will start from pole position tomorrow. This is however forgotten by the FIA...
Lewis Hamilton is one of the most successful Formula 1 drivers ever and the Brit has been able to start from pole position 97 times. This season the Brit is again the undisputed number one when it comes to conquering Saturday's first place on the grid.
Painful error by the FIA
So it is not surprising that you sometimes assume automatically that Lewis Hamilton will also start from pole this weekend, despite the fact that Valtteri Bottas was faster than his teammate this time. During the introduction of the pole sitter at the press conference after qualifying, the FIA interviewer forgot that information for a second. "It is his fourth of the season. Today's pole-sitter: Lew- Valtteri Bottas!"
There is an immediate excuse for the Finn, but the damage is unavoidable. The embarrassing comment also gets a round of applause from Verstappen and a deserved "Well done!"
