Mercedes men Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton came face-to-face with a group of animal rights activists on Monday night, calling on the two to put an end to dog racing. The gentlemen were attending a Forbes Iclonocast summit.
Activists from PETA, People for the ethical treatment of Animals, called on the driver and team boss to take action against the Iditarod race, a sled dog race that takes place annually in Alaska and has claimed the life of a loyal four-legged friend on several occasions. The activists hope Hamilton and Wolff will use their influence to persuade Liberty Media to stop supporting the race.
They stated that Greg Maffei, CEO of Liberty Media, should cut ties with the Iditarod race, as according to PETA, GCI, part of Liberty Media, still sponsors the event.
