Aston Martin welcomes Alonso to F1 team on first day of 2023

It is the first day of 2023, and although the new Formula 1 season is still some time away, drivers officially join their new team today. Aston Martin welcomes two-time world champion Fernando Alonso to the team.

The Silverstone-based racing stable can hardly wait for Alonso to get his first miles in the team's new car. This can be seen in a video shared by Aston Martin on social media, in which the Spaniard is welcomed by his new team.

Alonso was doing good business at Alpine, but decided to take on another challenge when it appeared that the team was not willing to give him a multi-year contract extension. When Sebastian Vettel's seat became vacant and Aston Martin did want to commit him for several years, the two-time world champion grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
