Red Bull Racing has finally made their decision:
Liam Lawson will be
Max Verstappen's new teammate in the 2025
Formula 1 season after the team said goodbye to
Sergio Perez yesterday.
Lawson at Red Bull in 2025
All signs were already pointing in Lawson's direction, but now Red Bull has made it official: the young New Zealander will replace Perez in 2025, becoming Verstappen's new teammate. He is promoted from the sister team where
Yuki Tsunoda will still race, and therefore, he has been chosen over the Japanese driver to make the big move.
Red Bull announced the news the day after Perez announced his retirement from the Austrian
F1 team. That announcement followed internal talks between Perez and the team, from which the driver concluded, according to team boss
Christian Horner, that he would take a year off. The Mexican would, however, remain attached to the team in another role.
