Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff will continue to feature in motorsport's premier class until the end of 2026. The Vienna-based Austrian has indicated in an interview with The Telegraph that he has signed a contract. Wolff believes he is the best man to be team boss. Mercedes will continue in 2024 with drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
Wolff is keen to win. "At the end of the day, as a shareholder myself, I want the best return on investment. And the best return on investment is winning. I’m not going to try to hang on to a position that I think somebody is going to do better than me. I make sure that I have people around who can tell me otherwise," Wolff explained.
So is Wolff overworked as a co-shareholder and head of the board? None of that is true. "The risk for me is always more 'bore-out' than burn-out," the Mercedes team boss says decidedly. "The risk for me is always more bore-out than burnout. And that’s why I embrace the challenges we have today, even though they sometimes feel very, very difficult to manage.”
Mercedes and Ferrari battled for second place in the constructors' championship until the last Grand Prix of the season, but Wolff's team eventually clinched the spot. Red Bull Racing were far out of sight partly because of Max Verstappen's performance. Can Mercedes challenge Red Bull this season, though?
It wouldn't make sense to change team principal right now. The team is in the middle of a work circle refining the current car and building the new PU etc. Stability is awfully understated and very valuable and these kind of situations. Something Ferrari seems unable to grasp through the years... I hope it changes with Vasseur.
So, who does he actually sign the contract extension with? As he owns 33% of the Mercedes F1 race team, so does he sign on both the Employer and Employee sections of the contract??
You'll be praying they don't because when they do, you'll be the first one not to show up here.
Good luck with making a constructive comment in 2024.... Just a wee hater aren't you. It's a good move hopefully the W15 will give the bull a run this year as.... If they do get it right are all the haters going to give them credit for turning it round? They were quick to have a go for getting it wrong ....
It's perfectly fine not to be a fan, I'm not a fan of Horner or Verstappens personalities but can still respect what they've done.... I certainly wouldn't comment on an article about them them just to be post Toxic comments just to stir things up.... Try being constructive for a change it's healthier
You weren't saying that between 2014 and 2020 were you. :)
