Although Red Bull Racing still seems to be the big favourite for both world titles this season, various upgrades have made the competition increasingly close. Consequently, the statement after the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix is as follows: 'The constructors' championship is still wide open'.

In 2022 and 2023, Red Bull Racing completely dominated Formula 1. There were few chances for competitors to secure race victories, let alone one of the two titles. In 2024, there seems to be more to come for the Austrian racing team's competitors.

Mainly McLaren and Ferrari have been able to make strides towards Red Bull Racing's speed through upgrades. In Imola, Red Bull did not even seem to be the fastest car anymore - although the tyres also played a part in this. Still, Max Verstappen managed to maximise the weekend and secure victory. If, as he did in Italy, the three-time world champion manages to make the most of all his weekends, it looks like he will win the drivers' championship.

In contrast, his teammate, Sergio Perez, did not get beyond eighth place in Imola. This caused him to drop to third place in the drivers' championship. In addition, these four points do not do much good for the constructors' championship. McLaren, with second and fourth place, for example, managed to secure more points in Imola.

So it seems this development battle is not yet played out. With McLaren and Ferrari getting closer, it is imperative that in all teams both drivers perform at their best. What do GPblog readers think? Will Red Bull Racing clinch the constructors' title or do you think Ferrari or McLaren, for example, have a serious chance?
