Action is bound to be plentiful as Max Verstappen, starting from pole, will have to fight the dominant McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri for the win in a wet Japanese Grand Prix.

F1 LIVE | Will Verstappen be able to edge out Norris and Piastri as he vies for his first win of the season in the Japanese Grand Prix?

A stunning lap, the paddock agrees - Andrea Stella and Lando Norris included - gave Max Verstappen pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix. However, that's half the job done, as the Dutchman must now complete all 53 laps of the 5.807-kilometre Suzuka Circuit on Sunday, April 6, ahead of the rest of the field if he is to take his first win of the season.

A complicated affair since it is wildly known that Verstappen's RB21 is no match for Norris' and Piastri's MCL39. However given the wet weather conditions expected to take place in Japan, the Red Bull Racing champion might just pull off the miracle.

Charles Leclerc's qualifying effort was enough for P4 and given Ferrari's race pace - on par with McLaren's - the Monegasque cannot be discarded for the win, after all, a lot can happen in a wet weather race in Japan.

Behind him, George Russell starts in P5 and looks to continue on his 2025 podium streak after racking up two P3's in as many races. Mercedes' W16 has proven to be a vast improvement on their previous challengers and with teammate Andrea Antonelli in P6, they may just be able to get yet another strong result for the German team, a strong contender in the Constructor's championship, in P2.

Isack Hadjar overcame 'nightmare' seatbelt issues to put his Racing Bulls car in P7 ahead of idol Lewis Hamilton, who could only managed P8 in the timesheets, ahead of a strong Alex Albon and a Oliver Bearmen, who is silencing the doubters he acquired following his sloppy season start at Australia.
