Max Verstappen won the Styrian Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. The Dutchman started from pole position and never had a problem during the race, allowing Red Bull Racing to increase their lead over Mercedes in the world championship.
The Austrian racing team has a significantly better car than in recent years, which makes it more difficult for Mercedes to compete. This is also due to the qualities of Verstappen. However, Peter Windsor believes, "It's one thing to have the best car in the field, like Sergio Pérez did. It's something else to dominate and control the race like Max did, just super.
"It gives the lie to all those people who have spent the last four or five years saying, 'Max is this, Max is that, but he doesn't have the ability to lead and win a championship and be consistent.' For me it was always clear that Max had that talent and here he is now with the best car in Formula 1 and he is getting one hundred percent out of it."
Mercedes versus Red Bull
The victory puts Verstappen 18 points ahead in the world championship. In the constructors' championship, Red Bull has a 40-point lead over Mercedes.
Totally agree max is the real deal previously merc had fastest car for how many season s yet max never complained about wings pit stops ect he went out rang the neck out that car just to match Hamilton but now max has the fast car or equivalent equipment he’s beating ham fulstop on skill speed
Yeah for me he needs a faster car, because last year he should have won every race if he was that good in 2nd best car on the grid, he’s not a god, he’s only human after all. “So the best car always in front” but then all his backside lickers never knew that, so what the flip they going to say now? Probably more excuses, he is no different to the 7 time world champion except that he’s younger and stupid.
