Lewis Hamilton had a rollercoaster of a race at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The British driver started in P10, then got hit from behind on after the start, and a racing incident with Oscar Piastri also caused him a puncture. The seven-time world champion summarised his race in the USA, where he eventually finished in seventh place.
"A pretty challenging race. I started on the hard tyre, which was tricky in the beginning and then, obviously I got hit from someone behind, a big hit," Hamilton told Sky Sports after the race. Even though he said starting on the hard tyre was "tricky," he was constantly able to overtake on that compound.
He added: "I apologise to all the team for the poor qualifying yesterday. There are strengths within our car, but sometimes it's just really hard to get the performance out of it."
However, was satisfied with finishing in seventh place. "I had a positive race, and I'm really grateful that the race was so good. I don't know how it was as a spectacle because there was so much overtaking, it was like Baku but better. I really wasn't expecting the track to be so great, but the more laps you did, I really loved it."
He also believes the Las Vegas GP will have a better reputation after the race. "Lots of great overtaking opportunities, and I think all those that were so negative about the weekend, saying it's all about show and all that, but I think Vegas proved [them] wrong."
