Will we see Magnussen back next year? 'I think they are happy'

Kevin Magnussen obviously hopes to continue competing in Formula 1 next year. The Dane has struggled to match team-mate Nico Hulkenberg's performance this year, which may put his future in doubt. Magnussen himself remains calm about it.

The Haas driver is not yet sure of a seat for next season. It would not be the first time Magnussen has seen a (temporary) end to his F1 career. In 2021, he lost his seat with the US team to Russian Nikita Mazepin. After Russia invaded Ukraine, Haas decided to break with all Russian ties and suddenly there was another seat free for Magnussen, who made his comeback.

Magnussen also in F1 next year?

After a somewhat disappointing period of Mick Schumacher alongside the Dane, this year German Nico Hulkenberg came back from the brink. Hulkenberg was fast from the start and manages to surprise weekly with strong qualifying, whereas Magnussen usually fails to get his car out of Q1. So rumour has it that Hulkenberg could sign a new contract soon, but what about his teammate?

"I think at the moment there's not any news to bring and eventually we'll come around to it. I don't really know what's going on. I feel like the team is pretty happy but you never know with these things and I take it one day at a time."

Guenther Steiner recently hinted he was satisfied with Magnussen's results. The team boss hoped to announce before the summer break who will be in the two Haas F1 cars in 2024. With that, both Hulkenberg and Magnussen seem 'safe' for another year with the American formation.
