Pietro Fittipaldi will take Kevin Magnussen' s place during the first free practice session for the Mexican Grand Prix. As such, the Dane is not the first driver to relinquish his seat this weekend.
Like every other F1 team, Haas has to use a rookie twice in 2022. That rookie has to take the place of one of the regular drivers during a first free practice session. In Mexico, Haas will use that rookie for the first time and the honour belongs to reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi. Not entirely new to F1 for the Brazilian, as he has already driven two races in the sport as Romain Grosjean's replacement.
Fittipaldi is not the only new name we will see on the grid this weekend. Mercedes puts Nyck de Vries in, Alpine gives its own junior Jack Doohan a chance and AlphaTauri puts Liam Lawson in the car during the first free practice at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
