Partly due to Drive to Survive, Formula 1 increased in popularity. Entire new groups of people became interested in the world's most important motor racing class, and certainly in the characters. Not only the F1 drivers are stars these days, even (former) team bosses like Guenther Steiner can no longer walk the streets anonymously.
Meanwhile, Netflix viewer interest seems to be declining, the streaming service has announced. In the first weekend after the release of the sixth season, Netflix recorded a 30 per cent drop in viewers compared to the same period a year ago. On the opening days, there were 2.9 million viewers to the series.
The total number of hours watched during the opening weekend was 21.8 million. That is 18 per cent lower than last year when 25.76 million hours were watched on the opening weekend. Exactly why there were fewer viewers and fewer hours watched is unclear. No doubt Netflix will come up with an explanation at a later stage.
For the streaming service, the drop probably comes as a cold shower. After all, the programme is one of the service's flagship shows. Meanwhile, filming has started for the seventh season.
I love my Netflix. Walking dead, breaking bad, suits. Some of the stuff I get into and watch from season one to finish. Unfortunately DTS is not on my what to watch list. To much manipulation of what really happened.
Netflix DTS was not as good as last years one. It was bit slow.
It's too much goofy humor and not enough focus on the racing this season. Granted the last season was dominated by Max but there was still a lot more on track they could have focused on. They totally skipped over Sainz keeping the DRS train going in order to achieve his win.
They skipped Sainz?! Wtf He almost literally delivered their show name on a silver platter in that race, he drove to survive, and won. How can they skip over the 1 non-Red Bull win of the season? Not sure why i am surprised, i guess i could've expected that, but i think it's remarkable to say the least.
I admit watching the first couple of seasons, and I watched half of the episodes last year. This year, I couldn't make it past the Lawrence Stroll/James Bond villain yacht arrival and I won't watch anymore.
Netflix DTS contains only a few subplots. It doesn't give the whole picture of F1 and is just for the drama, most of which we read about constantly. Except it's all blown up and drawn out more. I looked through the episode list and didn't think any were worth watching. Will stick to watching the real deal live.
The number of Netflix subscribers have dropped, not the percentage of Netflix subscribers who watches DTS.
Some ppl are cuting back on things like netflix or they have the, free trile of netflix theb canel the subscribe never seen dts
I've never seen it either Mav, from what I can gather it's behind the scenes but sort of manufactured to entice viewers, could be wrong but I'm sure other posters will set me straight ?
Herr flick guss we not miss much then with it but if its sorted manufactured just to get ratings
Honestly, it is good and is worth watching. It does give behind-the-scenes of what actually transpired. Like we suddenly hear of Otmar leaving, but dont know the background on what built up to that point. At least we now know from DTS.
I've dropped Netflix since last season. I'd say the percentage of households I know of that have Netflix has dropped by at least as much as the reduction in people watching DTS. If they'd launched it two weeks ago, I'd have probably imposed on one of my friends who still has Netflix to watch it. Considering that the new season is starting, it really doesn't seem that important, and that's before getting into what a low-quality reality tv show it is.
