Tost welcomes Ricciardo: ‘We are very happy he is back’

Franz Tost, AlphaTauri’s (and formerly known as Toro Rosso’s) long time Team Principal once again welcomed back one of his former drivers to his team. On this occasion, it was Daniel Ricciardo, who replaced Nyck de Vries, and returned to the team 10 years later.

Tost said that Ricciardo could settle in very quickly. "He came on Friday to the factory. We had a very emotional comeback for him, and it was nice to see him once more in our team, because, as you know, he was driving for us two years, and we are very happy that he is back."

He continued: "How much he has changed as a driver, I can tell you after a few Grand Prix. As a person, of course, he is now more mature, and I must say that he was always a very friendly person. We had a very good relationship in the past, and I think that this will also be the case now. He is a friendly person, and he's a good character, and I'm really happy that we have him in the team."

On how Tsunoda feels

Tost also commented on Yuki Tsunoda’s relationship with the Australian driver. "Yuki is open to this, and although Yuki had a good relationship with Pierre Gasly as well as with Nyck de Vries, I think that there will be no friction between him and Daniel Ricciardo. Both of them want to be as fast as the others, usually in Formula 1, and we will see how this interesting game will end."
