Max Verstappen is confident behind the wheel, and remains a perfectionist in terms of every aspect. The Dutchman has earned his 100th F1 podium after he finished first in Saudi Arabia, but he joked about his glass being half empty.
"That’s 88 missed podiums," Verstappen exclaimed jokingly after he was asked about his 100th podium in Formula 1.
"Of course, [I’m] very happy with that but I’m not not really a guy who looks at the stats so I'm just happy to hit 100 but I want to continue and just focus on my race, on achieving the best possible result all the time," the three-time world champion answered the question more seriously.
While Red Bull were dominant in two different circuits, Verstappen still wants to see how his car first performs in Melbourne to see where they stand. "It’s a very different track again, especially also now with the new layout and the new tarmac so next week we'll go in the simulator again and try to set it up as as well as we can before we get there, and then we'll just see throughout the weekend where we are. I mean, it's impossible to know how competitive we are going to be."
Of the 100 podiums, there has been 56 wins, 28 P2 and 16 P3, so more than 50% of his podiums, have been a win..
Also, in his whole F1 career of 187 race starts, he had 31 retirements.
Which means he has been on the podium 64% of the times that he has crossed the finish line.
38 of those podiums have come in the 2022 & 2023 seasons (and 2 this year) , so, he has already got on the podium 60 times before the 2022 season, even when he wasnt driving the most dominat car in the field.
"I mean, it's impossible to know how competitive we are going to be." No one is buying that, Max?.
