Even at the presentation of the new Aston Martin, there was no escaping questions about race director Michael Masi following his decisions at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel used the moment to jump on the bandwagon for the Australian.

Vettel hopes Masi will stay

Since Abu Dhabi, the question is whether Masi can and should stay on as race director. The FIA is currently investigating the course of events. Vettel, also a board member of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association, sympathizes with the race director. "Of course, it's not the easiest thing to be in his shoes, but he did a great job," quote Independent. Vettel also points to the sudden death of Charlie Whiting, Masi's predecessor.

According to Vettel, Masi is always very focused and determined to do his job as well as possible. "I don't know what's in store for his future, but I hope he stays because overall he has done a very good job. Despite the controversy in the last race."

More clarity in regulations

Whatever happens with Masi as race director, Vettel does call for more clarity in situations such as during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with the safety car in the final laps of the race. Vettel also recognizes that two interests clashed then, the sport and the show. "I don't care so much about the show, because I look at the sport from a competitive point of view."

It's not easy to be in Masi shoes bcos they designed for a clown..you see? What we need is a complete and transparent report from the maFIA and MASI gone.

Most decisions code from the Marshalls. Better send them off

No such thing as a “free lunch” in Formula One Sports. Every thing has a price tag. Sebatian Vettel said @ Abu Dhabi: "Why did they not let us go right away? This is what I still don't understand."

Of course he said that because track was clear and empty by the end of 55th yet Masi decided on next lap 1 minute after ‘lapped cars not allowed to overtake’ that’s why all the drivers were asking ‘why they don’t let us go?’ They knew the conditions on the track and they were so surprised when Masi did that

100% Correct and exact Sir. In the F1 cockpit…real-time…2 separate confusing messages from Masi & Race Control….yet still baffled til today.

Yeah Vettel knew that once the track is empty lapped cars overtake safety, but then Masi for some reason (could be Toto Wolf) decides to keep lapped cars in between leaders. Also Bono’s radio message to Lewis on 56th lap was ‘ok lapped cars are starting to overtake now’ just to correct himself 5 seconds later. If he followed the procedure like he was supposed to,we would have lapped cars on 56th, one full lap 57th and restart 58th, pretty much the same scenario. But he panicked

FIA investigation will answer your 25 questions about Abu Dhabi. Stop speculating..Stop focusing on F1 drivers. It is way deeper than that.

You see I ask you about one thing you’re talking about something else. And then you ask me am I ok hahahaha brilliant. Ill copy your post again Sebatian Vettel said @ Abu Dhabi: "Why did they not let us go right away? This is what I still don't understand." And the question is do you agree that he was talking about 56th lap when the track was empty? If not why he said it ? Cmon it’s simple mate

Shan_F1 11 February 2022 at 16:38+ 2538

Dude. Are you ok? Clearly rationalising Abu Dhabi 2021 like this is not healthy. . A spokesperson for the FIA confirmed to the BBC that they were aware of “RBR coercion with Masi” leading to final laps for Abu Dhabi. They stated ‘We are aware of this and it is part of the investigation." .

Its not nice attempt, it’s the truth and the reason Vettel said that thing you wrote. Why else would he say ‘Why did they not let us go right away?’ You wrote it mate, not me. Just explain that to me why would he say that ? Why the other lapped drivers said the same thing on 56th ? Don’t try to steer it into something else what isn’t true that I said there ? Don’t be like every other Lewis fan

No answer still? Why Vettel said ‘why they didn’t let us go right away?’ I’m curious to see what were you thinking why he said that ? You even wrote it like it plays to your argument. I can give you all the proof that the track was clear even on 55th mate, if Masi ordered in any point during 56th lap, which lasts 3 minutes under safety car. We would have 57th as a full lap after and restart on 58th. And the same scenario.

Shan_F1 10 February 2022 at 18:47+ 2538

Nawh. You lost the plot there. Good try though. Fairness not applied. -Evidence of collusion with RBR. -Masi broke his own SC standards. -Not all cars unlapped and disadvantaged other F1 teams. Nice attempt.

Not easy to be in anyone's shoes but if you choose to put the shoes on, wear them properly. Especially when you are well paid to wear the shoes.

Oh shoot, Lewis fans are fuming now. How can Vettel say that ? Even praising Masi, damn

Vish 11 February 2022 at 12:02+ 14459

It's not easy to be in Masi's shoes because he made a huge mistake, if he had just followed the safety car procedures as he did during the whole season, nobody would have questioned his moves, not even RBR, because Max was behind Lewis the whole time. He just tried to play a role in deciding a result, so Masi fully deserves all the backlash

If he followed procedure and ordered lapped cars to overtake on 56th when the track was clear and empty, we would have that restart on 58th without controversy. But he made a mistake on 56th but also could be because of pressure from Toto. All the lapped drivers were asking why they didn’t let them go ?
