It did rain a bit each time during the past GP weekends and wet and intermediate tyres were brought out. At Silverstone during the 2023 British GP weekend, these tyres may also have to be used. This is the weather report.

Weather.com reports that there is virtually no chance of wet free practice at the Silverstone circuit on Friday. There is a slight chance of rain in the morning until 09:00, but after that it will remain dry, allowing both free practice sessions to be run on dry track. The sun is also shining with a maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. This is often favourable as good data from new parts and for the race weekend can be collected.

Saturday and Sunday could be very wet

On Saturday, the chance of rain is a lot higher. Especially in the morning between 08:00 and 12:00, there is about a 75% chance of precipitation. Drivers can then prepare during a wet third free practice session for a qualifying session that may also be run on a wet track. The chance of rain remains above 50% until the start of qualifying. After that, the chance will decrease considerably, but not disappear. The temperature will be pleasant, around 24 degrees.

On Sunday, there is about the same chance of rain as on Saturday. What might make rain lovers happy is that weather.com predicts that the rain will fall mainly in the afternoon on Sunday. So that means high chances of a wet race at Silverstone.
