The rumours about Nyck de Vries in Formula 1 are everywhere. The Dutchman is linked to a seat at Williams and Alfa Romeo. In an interview with Jack Plooij during the Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport Wolff talks about the chances of De Vries in Formula 1.
"Nyck is a great guy, he is the current Formula E champion and that is something to be really proud of. And he made us win the Formula E constructors championship. He is a great guy, massively intelligent with a lot of social intelligence. When you look at him, he looks like a proper Mercedes driver", Wolff told the camera, laughing.
"I’m in two minds, cause I don’t want to lose him in Formula e for next year, but he also deserves a seat in F1. I would never block him from a Formula 1 seat."
Plooij asks if Wolff can give a percentage on how likely it is that we will see De Vries in Formula 1 next year. "Can I give a percentage? Fifty percent chance", Wolff finishes. With the announcement of Kimi Raikkonen 's retirement, it won't be long before the ball starts rolling and more seats are announced.
Listening to Toto's interview, Toto said "it would be good to see de Vries take the vacant seat at Williams".
There is now absolutely no doubt that Russell will be joining Mercedes next year.
How is he so sure that there will be a vacancy if George is not leaving? I am sure he is not thinking that Latifi will be going anywhere!
I rather be big fish in small pond rather than .. Rather be at the front of FE than ..
