The
Belgian Grand Prix did not cause many changes in the drivers' world championship.
Lewis Hamilton is still the lonely leader in the 2020 classification, followed by
Max Verstappen at a distance. The
Red Bull Racing driver managed to keep
Valtteri Bottas behind thanks to third place at Spa-Francorchamps.
The difference between Hamilton and Verstappen amounts to 47 World Championship points. The Dutch driver was still lucky that
Daniel Ricciardo managed to snatch the World Championship point for the fastest lap of Sunday in the closing stages of the race from Hamilton. Verstappen defends a lead of just under three points on Bottas as the
Formula 1 circus strikes Monza next week.
Albon rises to fourth place
Alexander Albon rose two places, jumping
Charles Leclerc and
Lando Norris. The British Thai now finds himself back in fourth place in the rankings. That is the place Albon should be able to easily secure this season.
Despite a zero-score, Leclerc remains fifth, just ahead of
Lando Norris. However, it is very exciting, because thanks to his twelve points in Belgium, Ricciardo is once again competing for fourth place in the World Championship.
Sergio Perez and
Lance Stroll should not be forgotten in the strong
Racing Point either.
