Max Verstappen seemed to be unbeatable after the
Dutch Grand Prix, but after his victory at the
Italian Grand Prix, the remaining races will have to be wild for the Dutchman not to win the title. Verstappen now has 335 points in the driver's championship, which puts him 116 points ahead of
Charles Leclerc.
Leclerc has again moved slightly ahead of
Sergio Perez in third position, but P1 now looks well and truly out of sight for the Monegasque. With his huge lead, Verstappen can secure the title as early as the next race, the
Singapore Grand Prix. It seems only a matter of time until the
Red Bull Racing driver is crowned World Champion of 2022.
George Russell also takes home a good number of points with his P3 and is now also on over 200 points. Perez and Leclerc will have to take the Briton into account in the last six races.
Nyck de Vries scored two points in his racing debut with
Williams, putting him ahead of
Nicholas Latifi in the championship.
