Lando Norris finished today's running in P3 and will line up there for the sprint race tomorrow. The Brit however did manage to finish the day in the gravel trap as he lost control of the car trying to heat up his intermediates for his last push lap.

Norris, in conversation with Sky Sports, talked about what could have been in that final lap. "With 100% battery, there was a good 3 or 4 tenths left in it," he states when comparing it to his earlier Q3 lap, "the lap I did at the beginning of Q3 was like two consecutive and when you do two consecutive you need to split the battery 50%."

Catching Charles?

With the Brit just 3 tenths behind the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, it left questions about whether or not he would have surpassed his Monegasque rival. Something the McLaren driver agrees with "I am sure Charles would have improved as well but if he made a mistake then I could have got him."

Optimism remains despite the mistake

"Honestly it's a good result for us so I am taking it," adds the 22-year-old, before concluding the interview with, "when it's a bit more down to the driver and taking the risks and pushing the tyres. Finding the limits in wet/dry, dry/wet then. that is where we did a good job today. I just need to be happy with myself. I am surprised and I am sure we will be fine for tomorrow."
