Lando Norris managed to cope best with the wet conditions in Shanghai and took pole for Saturday's sprint race. The
McLaren British driver will see
Lewis Hamilton next to him on the grid's front row. Fernando Alonso and
Max Verstappen will start the race from the second row on Saturday morning local time.
Meanwhile, the
FIA has communicated the provisional starting grid for the Sprint. The Chinese fans are undoubtedly happy that their
Guanyu Zhou will start the race from tenth place. It was a great day for Stake
F1, as teammate
Valtteri Bottas finished ninth.
For Mercedes, it was a session with two different pictures. On the one hand, there was the satisfaction with Lewis Hamilton's second-place finish. But there was also the disappointment at
George Russell's 11th place.
Red Bull Racing will not reflect on a successful day with fourth and sixth place for Verstappen and
Sergio Perez.
