Four Formula One teams will remain at the
Red Bull Ring after the
Austrian Grand Prix for a tyre test with Pirelli.
Red Bull Racing, among others, will test the new tyres for 2023 in the aftermath of its home race.
Pirelli introduced the new 18-inch tyres for the 2022 season, and have 25 test days to refine the tyres for next year.
Red Bull Racing will take part in the tyre test for the first time on its own ground and will be joined by
McLaren, Alpine and
Williams.
Red Bull stay in Austria for tyre test
McLaren and
Williams will be in action on Tuesday and Wednesday, while Red Bull and Alpine will be on track on either day. The Italian tyre supplier will run a programme during the test, with the data shared between all teams to ensure none of the participants gain an unfair advantage.
During the test there will be no possibility to test any new parts. After
Ferrari and presumably Mercedes did so during their tyre tests, the
FIA has introduced a rule change which explicitly prohibits the testing of updates.
