The start of the Sprint Shootout has been postponed in Belgium until further notice. It is raining hard on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, making it impossible to enter the asphalt. But what happens if the qualifying session cannot go ahead? The FIA provides us with an answer.

"Most likely scenario at this stage - if we cannot run Sprint Shootout, then we will use the qualifying classification from yesterday to set the Sprint Grid. Grid penalties from qualifying will apply only for the Grand Prix. This would all be pending decision from stewards so is subject to change." an FIA spokesman informed.

That would mean may start in pole position for the 15-lap sprint race later today. On Sunday, the driver has to start from P6 due to a grid penalty for changing his gearbox, but this penalty does not apply to the sprint race.
