LIVEBLOG | FP1: 2021 Turkish Grand Prix
The
Russian Grand Prix guarantees spectacle. Also, this edition will be very important for the battle for the championship between
Max Verstappen and
Lewis Hamilton. They will fight for every inch this weekend.
Championship duel
The difference in the
Formula 1 championship between
Max Verstappen and
Lewis Hamilton is only two points. With seven races left, it's basically a sprint championship now. In 2020 the circuit seemed to suit Verstappen very well. He was fastest in all free practices, Q1 and Q2. In Q3 he just missed the fastest time. Lewis Hamilton didn't come anywhere near Verstappen's times in the practice sessions, but he did manage to win the race. We can therefore assume that the battle will be close this weekend.
The first free practice can already give some insight into how things will go this weekend. All teams will want to make the most of the first hour of practice time. It will therefore be exciting to see who will be the quickest.
