Mercedes in control?
Mercedes dominated Friday's session by setting the fastest time in both the first and second free practice sessions.
Red Bull Racing were a little further away in the second free practice, with
Max Verstappen and
Sergio Perez finishing ninth and tenth respectively. Nevertheless, there is plenty of optimism within the Austrian camp.
Helmut Marko and
Christian Horner's team are said to have a few things up their sleeves in order not to make Mercedes any wiser than they already are. It will undoubtedly be a duel that will be decided by a few thousandths or hundredths of a second.

From the first day of the Spanish GP, we can also conclude that
Ferrari and Alpine have got their act together. Possibly the latter benefits from the changes made to turn 10. AlphaTauri is also a strong candidate to bring home a lot of points this weekend.
McLaren can't be ruled out of this battle either despite a dip in performance during the second Friday practice session.
